A CLUB IN THE COUNTRYSIDE

There’s an old saying here, we’re a “club in the country, not a country club.”  It’s a good summary of our culture here at the Napa Valley Country Club. Our 181 golden, oak studded acres capture the classic visual aesthetic of the California countryside. And neighboring vineyards constantly remind you that you’re in the best place to grow Cabernet Sauvignon on earth. Inside the clubhouse the Napa Valley food & wine culture is alive and well. Our culinary staff delivers a quality of food that meets or exceeds what you can get locally.

A 100-YEAR LEGACY

In 1915 the Napa Golf & Country Club leased 100 acres from Frank Coombs for the construction of a 9-hole golf course. In 1923 Napa Valley Country Club was incorporated and purchased the leased land for $7,500. The club remained a 9-hole course through the 1980s when additional land was purchased to expand to an 18-hole course. The current clubhouse was built in 2004. From a golf perspective, the duality of a 100 year old front nine with a modern-era back nine makes its 6,148 yards an exercise in technical play with elevation changes, tricky slopes, water hazards and compact greens, and of course incredible vineyard views.

ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP

With 181 acres of land, the club is central part of the East Napa / Coombsville neighborhood. The importance of good stewardship of the native flora and fauna has always been forefront in the club’s history. In partnership with Napa County, the club became the anchor tenant in a recycled water pipeline to deliver recycled water to the Coombsville area. This recycled water pipeline was completed in 2017. The club now uses rainwater and recycled water for 100% of its golf course irrigation needs.  As golf courses across the country continue to struggle with the financial cost and environmental impact of using potable water for their irrigation needs, Napa Valley Country Club is fortunate to have had the strategic vision to invest in a cost effective, environmentally conscious water source.
